The American motion picture industry will honor itself for the 92nd time at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.

Join us for a special program with Dr. Andrew Douglas of the Bryn Mawr Film Institute to learn about the history of the Oscars and to understand what the different categories represent, how the process works, and the impact the awards have on Hollywood and our culture.

About our speaker: Andrew Douglas, PhD, is Senior Director of Bryn Mawr Film Institute. Dr. Douglas' extensive background includes working as a film critic, teaching Film History, Film Criticism and other subjects at UNC and Northwestern, and as a speaker at Bryn Mawr College, Penn State, Johns Hopkins, and other colleges and institutions. His favorite films are those of Alfred Hitchcock, David Mamet, and Michael Mann.
